ABOUT IAM HEALTHCARE

IAM Healthcare unites more than 10,000 health professionals.
We stand together for quality patient care, appropriate staffing levels, safe working conditions, and development of our professional practice.
We are united to ensure patients in the US and Canada get the accessible and affordable care they deserve, and that healthcare professionals in both the public and private sector are provided the necessary resources to get the job done.

IAM Healthcare members are proud to be a part of the broader IAM Union, a powerhouse labor organization of nearly 600,000 active and retired members across multiple industries in the US and Canada. The IAM is one of the largest and most diverse labor unions in North America. Our union is especially well-known in the Pacific Northwest, where IAM District 751 represent more than 30,000 highly skilled employees at Boeing and other major employers.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Reasonable & Safe Policies

A union contract puts protections in place that benefit both Professionals and the patients we care for. These can include reasonable workload limits, safe staffing standards, flexible scheduling policies, and more. MultiCare will be responsible for negotiating with Professionals before implementing policy changes. This will allow us to preserve what we like and make improvements when necessary.

Professional Practice & Advancement

As advancements in medicine and technology drive rapid change in health care, it is critical that we be given the opportunities and resources necessary to advance in our respective areas of practice. With union representation, we can negotiate additional resources for training and development, as well as new promotional pathways that do not currently exist for
many professions.

Investment in Excellence & Longevity

Health care workers – especially skilled Professionals – are in high demand, with shortages in many fields. Even so, many employers have underinvested in retention and recruitment. WIth a union, we gain the right to collectively bargain, which will empower us to negotiate for better compensation, including rewards for professional achievement,
